Reliable and Friendly

Hired that company for small local move and was very impressed by the service quality and the way they handled little challenging move into the third floor apartment building without elevator. Grateful for strong friendly crew who delivered my all furniture in perfect shape.

Do not book this company if you want a professional experience.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Pay the money and use a professional company that you can trust. I have moved countries 5 times for my work, as well as had to do interstate moves on a number of occasions and never in my life have I had such a terrible experience - both with the move itself and with customer service. Seriously, the customer service is atrocious. They DO NOT CARE about customer satisfaction or honesty.

In addition to doing a poor estimate (that did not respond to my request) and failing to correct it even when I called them, this moving company LEFT a number of large items that I had requested they move behind!! Just randomly, for no apparent reason. Some of those things I had to throw away, and to move the others I had to go and rent a larger car (thankfully this was only an interstate move!). I emailed 3 times to try to get a resolution on this and did NOT GET ONE REPLY. Even when I was speaking to them later, they did not apologise and did not even acknowledge that they had done anything wrong.

Overall, once they have booked the business, the staff are rude and frankly, I felt they were dishonest. Their quote did not match what I was charged (even when I queried it). They quoted for a 'partial pack' and then billed me by the hour - which if I had known they were going to do, I would have pushed the movers to go quicker (as they were really slow!).

When they went to charge my credit card upon delivery, since the were charge was $1300 higher than quoted, they triggered a fraud alert on my credit card and instead of speaking to me or calling to find out why, the office ordered the delivery staff to STOP working.

Finally, the movers damaged irreplaceable parts of my couch and broke the casing on a $1000 speaker.

I urge you, use someone else.

Thousands of dollars of damage

Absolutely appalling and horrific service. The movers broke multiple pieces of furniture and tried to hide it from us (see the photo of my dresser with the leg taped back on). Nearly every box contained broken items - many of which cannot be replaced or claimed under insurance. My bike was dropped twice when being unloaded from the truck, bottles were packed upside down and spilled destroying other items, art wasn’t wrapped and was packed in a suitcase and all of my plants were smushed and killed. And the movers were late. When I attempted to raise these issues with the company, they did not return any of my phone calls and were generally unresponsive and unhelpful by email. Do not hire Georgetown Moving and Storage

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!! They sent movers to move my belongings. One of the guys it was their first day on the job. This resulted in my desk with the glass center shattered to pieces, they put a gouge in my hardwood floor because items weren't wrapped appropriately. Wait, that's not it..... bent the back wheel on my bike, and scratched my freezer. Left my husbands weight bench pieces unattached and broke a piece off of my guest bed post. I had to call the company twice to complain about one worker on the job but not working. He was swiveling in my office chair and on periodically on the phone.

The company sent 2 additional workers but for any 3 hours to complete the job.

The sales manager, Ashley was supposed to credit me for the hours the non-worker was there which totaled 6 hours and they were supposed to only charge me $30 per hour for 1 additional worker. I haven't received the credit yet. She's been ducking my husbands phone calls and not calling back promptly. We have had to call her to reach her. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM HER AND SHE HAD NO INTEREST ON MAKING THIS RIGHT. It's a shame because we've used this company before and they were amazing. I thought I had found a reliable company but this last experience was horrific.

Stolen art

I was misled by Georgetown movers of Alex. Va. The Web site was favorable. What I actually got were broken items but the worse was a one of a kind art work, moon with Neil Armstrong's boot print on it, STOLEN. The boot impression on the 3D moon was a cast plaster of the actually moon boot worn by Armstrong on the moon. I informed the co. yesterday and haven't heard anything back. Evasion. I had to contact Fairfax police and have contacted lawyers I am devastated. This art was to go to Abright Knox art gallery of Buffalo N.Y., in my will I do not want money. I want this art back. It also holds sentimental value because I gave this art to my husband as a birthday gift. My husband is now deceased.

Overall Very Very Good.

I have received few estimates. Georgetown Moving company was able to give me not the cheapest one but far the fastest delivery time. On Monday we have loaded my 2 bedroom apt. On Wednesday night I was sleeping in my own bed, amazing.
Movers were good, worked hard without any break. Loaded efficient, unloaded fast and no damages on the end. I coudn't be more happy by choosing Georgetown Moving service.  .

Poor Moving Experience.

Worst move experience I've encountered in 30 years of military moving. Truck showed up three hours late, driver never called and I had to call twice to get a status. Since this was a small move they charge by the hour. Crew was nice but let me just say there was no rush to get the job done quickly on their part, what should have been completed in two hours took three. If I wouldn't of been watching them the entire time they would have probably taken four hours. The same day I spoke with Ashley and expressed my disappointment with the whole move experience and I was told they were to call me back - they never did and I had to call them to follow-up. Ultimately they gave me a $35 credit for my inconvenience.
This definitely is not a moving company I would recommend.

Really happy we went with them.

I had a great and hassle-free experience with Georgetown Movers. From start to finish the experience was all good. I came into this move jaded and terrified because my last move with a different company was complete turmoil and hell. I probably came off micromanage-y and annoying during the planning phase, but Ashley remained professional. After we got a date and arrival time range worked out, it was easy sailing from there. I moved from a 1 bedroom on the 5th floor of an elevator building to another 1 bedroom on the 5th floor of an elevator building. The catches were that I have a lot of stuff which includes a lot of recreational stuff (including a multiple bikes and gear, skis and gear and a kayak and gear), and the destination building is huge, so they had to take a very long walk from the basement entrance to the service elevator. Randy and Ziggy handled the moved like pros. They were friendly, professional and fast. Even my dog loved them. The icing on the cake is that even with the additional distance and disassembly/reassembly charges, their quote was hundreds of dollars less than the few other competitors I called. What I was quoted is exactly what I paid. I highly recommend these guys.A huge thanks goes out to Randy and Ziggy for a seamless experience!

DAMAGED OUR BELONGINGS - SENT DRUG ADDICT WORKERS

We used this company for personal use (to move my family) and I arranged them to move my boss' belongings as well. The only reason they get any stars at all is because the person who set up the arrangements was very nice.

A couple of the guys who showed up to move our stuff were visibly on drugs and they were arguing with each other. One of the guys just sat in the truck for an hour, speaking on the phone loudly to his friends about what they did that weekend.

The careless movers (who were on drugs and not at all paying attention to their work) ruined our $2,000 leather couch and when we reached out to tell the company about this error, they didn't want to help us and the representative actually hung on me when I insisted on speaking to his manager. After that, they ignored my many calls because they recognized my number. The second I called from my husband's phone they picked up right away. They evaded any questions about ruining our furniture and have yet to respond to the claims we submitted.

Our couch didn't just have a scratch on it. It was severely damaged in 5 different places because the movers did NOT wrap the furniture correctly. Even the guys who unloaded the couch to our new home said, "This wasn't wrapped correctly. You need to call them and let them know so they fix this up for you."

Our couch is still ruined and this company has done nothing about it. To say we despise the corrupt people who run this business doesn't even begin to scratch at the surface. They will take your money, throw your furniture around, and send disinterested drug addicts to handle your belongings.

Avoid this company at all costs if you want your furniture intact and you want movers who are decent at their job.
